Don't be a couch potato..Get involved!

Hey there, dear readers! Can you feel it? That subtle nip in the air, the leaves just starting to hint at changing colors – it can only mean one thing: fall is finally here! And you know what that means, right? It's time to trade in those beach towels for cozy sweaters and, of course, get involved in our community. After all, once the kiddos are back in school and the weather's not sweltering, there's no excuse not to. So, let's chat about some fantastic local opportunities for you to sow some community love and build those ever-important relationships.

1. Lions Club: Where Being a Knight of the Blind Is a Real Thing!

Founded in 1917, the Argyle chapter of the Lion's Club is part of the largest service club organization in the world. Seriously, it's kind of a big deal with over 1.35 million members in 200+ countries. But what do they do, you ask? Well, they fight blindness, for one. Helen Keller herself challenged these Lions back in 1925 to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." Impressive, right? But that's not all – they also feed the hungry, aid seniors and disabled folks, and take care of our lovely planet. Lions even serve the youth through scholarships, recreation, and mentoring programs. Their motto? Simple: "We Serve." So, if you're interested in making a difference, give them a ring at 940-488-9744.

2. Keep Argyle Beautiful: Because It's Not Just About Good Looks

Who doesn't want to keep Argyle looking fabulous? That's where Keep Argyle Beautiful comes in. These folks are all about preserving and enhancing our local natural environment through educational and motivational programs. And they're not just talk – the board members are volunteers who roll up their sleeves and get to work on amazing projects like clean-up days, recycling events, and even helping out in the Hilltop Elementary Garden. Plus, they've got your back during the Graham-Argyle Cemetery clean-up, sponsor the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival, and much more. They're all about engaging and educating us to be better stewards of our beautiful town. So, if you're ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into some community TLC, email info@keepargylebeautiful.com.

3. Argyle Senior Citizens Organization (ASCO): Where Caring Is a Way of Life

ASCO might sound like a superhero organization, and in a way, they kind of are. Originally formed in 2011, they've recently become a 501C3 nonprofit. Their mission? To create community support for senior activities, provide fellowship, and develop friendships among disabled and senior citizens in Argyle and Denton County. Not only that, but they're big-hearted donors, giving back to charities and organizations that align with their values. These folks are all about supporting the elderly, the poor, the distressed, the disabled, or the underprivileged in our community. So, if you're looking to lend a hand or find some camaraderie, give them a ring at 707-410-7710.

4. Argyle Business and Coffee: Where Business Meets Brew

Alright, all you business-savvy folks, we haven't forgotten about you! If you're looking to connect, build relationships, and create a rolodex of trusted services to refer to others, then the Argyle Business and Coffee community is your jam. It's like a local networking hotspot for business owners looking to make meaningful connections. So, if you're ready to put your business front and center, call them at 714-932-1958.

There you have it, folks – my personal recommendations for getting involved and building those all-important relationships in our wonderful community. Whether you're into community service, environmental preservation, senior care, or business networking, there's a place for you to shine. So, let's embrace this fall season, roll up our sleeves, and make Argyle an even better place to call home. Hope to see you out there!

Signed,
